Windows Search Indexer Exits too quickly

if you still have Windows XP and are stuck with the search indexer and it closes unexpectfully then all you have to do is restart the computer and it will run again!!

But that is where you can go if you don't have any important programs loaded and it should make you happy and I hope it helps but there's a better way that allows you to keep the computer on and keep it on because it's a big "bite in the butt" to have to close down the computer when you have games or word documents running and have to close them down with the risk of losing saves stuff in certain conditions...

So, if you do have important programs loaded then

  1. you can just hit the start menu, and "Run" or if you have a shortcut to that you are using please use that,
  2. type in services.msc and hit enter
  3. look for  "windows search"
  4. and in the dialogue frame there is links to stop or restart, hit restart on only the windows indexer
  5. exit the services program and..
  6. start searching again and it will work again!!

That should fix it but it crashes sometimes and here's what you can do when it happens
